Hello Again 👋

Hello Again 👋

Hey there! It’s been a while…

If you’re wondering how you ended up here, it’s because you subscribed to my newsletter, downloaded one of my free resources, or purchased a product from RafalTomal.com. Regardless of how you got here, I’m extremely grateful to have you here and I hope you’ll stay tuned for what’s coming next…

I began my journey several years ago by sharing my free design tools and everything I learned with other designers.

My personal brand has grown over the years, enabling me to have a successful career in design and run my own design studio business. It has been the most valuable investment I’ve ever made.

I have missed creating content, so I have decided to relaunch this newsletter and reconnect with my audience. I am excited to share not only new design tips and strategies, but also insights from my journey as an entrepreneur and digital creator.

Now is the perfect time for you to let me know what you're up to and what you would like to learn from me.

In the next email, I have prepared a quick introduction to Figma guide. It is perfect for those who want to get started in Figma or share it with their non-design team members. So, I believe it would be worth sticking around :)

It’s been a while since my last email, so let me give you a quick update on what I’ve been up to these last few years:

8px.studio

I relaunched my design studio earlier this year with a new brand: 8px.studio. Although my journey as a solo designer has been amazing, I made the decision to expand my team so that I could focus more on managing the business and pursuing new opportunities.

8px.studio has been incredibly successful thus far. We’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with renowned brands such as GoDaddy, ConvertKit, VMware, Forbes, Greatness.com, Follow Up Boss, Society of Actuaries, FastSpring, and many more.

Our goal remains to maintain a small size while delivering the highest quality of design.

I understand that running your own design studio or freelancing full-time is a dream for many designers, so I am excited to share my latest findings and experiences from running the design studio with you.

UIshop.com

I have been mentioning UIshop.com for the past few years, but my work at the design studio has kept me very busy. Now, I feel it is finally time to shift more of my focus toward launching it.

I envision UIshop.com as the go-to hub where you can find high-quality Figma templates for all your design work.

The issue I have noticed is that many design marketplaces offer a wide range of templates, UI kits, and design systems. However, they are often created by different designers with varying quality levels and tend to prioritize aesthetics over real-world applications and the actual needs of designers.

That is why my goal is to provide a cohesive set of tools and templates that can be universally useful, whether you are a solo designer, part of a design studio, or running an agency. I aim to offer not only the tools but also a comprehensive strategy and clear guidelines on how to use them effectively.

UIshop.com will soon become the new home for my two popular Figma products: DesignKit and QuickFrames. I have been working on updated versions of both, and I am excited to share them with you soon!

Rockbase.co

Chris Hufnagel and I are envisioning a new WordPress theme called Rockbase.co. Our goal is to create a theme that is simple, yet highly flexible and block-based. Although I took a break from WordPress for a while, its new direction has rekindled my excitement!

This presents a wonderful opportunity to finally build a modular website that is user-friendly, customizable, and easy to maintain without the need for extensive coding.

While platforms like Webflow, Squarespace, and Framer offer some of these features, WordPress has distinct advantages. It boasts a wide range of plugins, a large community, and superior content management capabilities, especially for your blog or podcast.

Furthermore, with WordPress, you have complete ownership of your website, free from any restrictions imposed by platform-specific hosting plans or rules.

If you share our enthusiasm for the new WordPress block editor, we invite you to sign up for our Rockbase.co email list. This way, you can stay updated on when the theme will be ready for use.

Thank you so much for being a part of this journey with me. I am truly grateful for your support and engagement.

As always, if you have any questions, feedback, or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I value your input and would love to hear from you.

Stay tuned for the next email where I will be sharing a quick introduction to Figma guide. I’m excited to provide you with valuable resources and insights to help you excel in your design journey.

Until then, take care and keep creating amazing things!

Design Through Fast Iterations We often dive deep into design theory and spend hours on tutorials learning new skills. But I don’t think we focus enough on practical techniques that actually help us achieve the best results. You can have all that design knowledge, but you still need a process that helps you stay creative, make those little decisions at every step, and find the best solution. When I first started designing, I’d often stare at a blank page, unsure of where to begin. My usual...

Auto Layout in Figma: to use or not to use? Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about the debate around auto layout in Figma. On one side, you’ve got designers who say skipping auto layout makes their work faster—they don’t have to get bogged down in the details, and it speeds up their process. On the other hand, some argue that auto layout is essential for efficiency, helping to maintain consistent spacing, reposition elements easily, and ensure everything is pixel-perfect. Personally, I’ve...

It’s Typespiration Time! Lately, I've been feeling a bit nostalgic for the days when design was just pure fun—no business plans, no client deadlines, no specific goals, just the joy of creating. So, I decided to revisit one of my older side projects, Typespiration. It reminded me of a time when I could simply create, share, and not worry too much about anything else. For those of you who haven't heard of it before, Typespiration is a collection of simple designs that play with different sets...
